Graduate Profile: Lucas Nash

I was born and raised in Virginia, where I still live with my wife Meghan and our three children. I am thankful to have grown up in a Christian home and a confessional church where the gospel was faithfully taught. I made my first profession of faith at the age of eleven, but the next decade of my life largely contradicted that profession. Outwardly I was known as a generally moral person and was recognized by classmates and friends as a Christian. I would at times attempt to lead friends to Christ or argue for biblical principles in my public-school classrooms, but inwardly, I had a heart that desired the things of the world and I viewed God’s law merely as a restraint on my freedom and pleasure.

Eventually, after a liberal New Testament class in college, I decided that I didn’t want to be a Christian any longer and began to pursue a life of sin. In God’s patience and mercy, He placed faithful friends around me who warned me with biblical truth and urged me to repent and follow Christ. Through their example and exhortations, the Lord brought conviction of sin and led me to rest in the saving grace of Christ. Shortly after that, I joined Christ Church, where I have attended for the past 13 years.

During my time in college, I developed a desire for gospel work in Latin America, and after graduation the Lord provided me an opportunity to work with a U.S-based missions organization, where I served as the Coordinator for Latin America for ten years. I continued serving in my local church throughout that period and began to feel an increasing desire for pastoral ministry. It was during this time that I was encouraged by my pastors to pursue further theological education, and I was eventually led to Reformed Baptist Seminary. Around that time, my calling into pastoral ministry was confirmed by the leadership of the church as well as the congregation, and I became a bi-vocational elder in 2017 and then a full-time elder in 2022.

I am deeply indebted to RBS for the training that I have received over the past several years. It’s difficult to express how vital this time has been in helping me grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord and to develop as a minister of the gospel. The instruction has provided me with the needed tools to be a life-long student of the Word, has helped me grow in the area of practical theology, and has given me a much deeper appreciation for historic confessional Baptist tradition. Being able to obtain an MDiv entirely online allowed me to carry out my studies without being pulled away from the life and ministry of our local church.

I’m thankful for the many hours Dr. Gonzales and others at RBS have given to encourage and advise me throughout the course of my studies. I’m very grateful to my local church for making my time with RBS possible. I’m especially thankful to my wife, Meghan, for her loving support, encouragement, and patience through many busy seasons. It’s my prayer that the Lord would enable me to faithfully steward all that I’ve received through RBS for the building up of His church.
